Moonee Longwall Fracturing Souce Moonee Colliery.jpg

Continued windblasts meant that the Conglomerate roof had to be drilled and hydraulicly fractured to assist it to fall.

Water was injected into a short section of borehole until the rock began to crack.

Once a fracture is initiated it was left to spread.

Drilling into the roof was not without its dangers.
